24 Nov 2015 by Clement Huang

Garuda Indonesia has expanded its network in China by launching a direct service between Denpasar and Guangzhou.

The flag carrier of Indonesia now operates the Denpasar–Guangzhou route three-times weekly on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Flight GA896 departs Denpasar at 2345 and arrives in Guangzhou at 0500. The return service on flight GA897 then takes off from Guangzhou at 0615 and touches back down in Denpasar at 1200.

On this new service, Garuda operates a next generation B737-800 configured with two-classes seating 12 in business and 150 in economy.

The Skyteam member now serves mainland China 24 times a week, with flights between Jakarta and Shanghai (seven times), Jakarta and Beijing (four times), Denpasar and Beijing (three times), Jakarta and Guangzhou (seven times), and now the new service between Denpasar and Guangzhou (three times).

Garuda has attributed the expansion to growing demand from Chinese visitors travelling to Indonesia. The number of inbound travellers from China reached 489,233 between January and August 2015 – a 25.56 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
