Newly-restored Pulitzer Amsterdam set to open

22 Nov 2015 by GrahamSmith

Preferred Hotels & Resorts will reopen the restored Pulitzer Amsterdam, part of its LVX Collection, in February 2016.

The 400-year-old property is located in the city centre in the UNESCO World Heritage canal district. It has been a hotel for 45 years and was formerly 25 renovated canal houses.

The restoration sought to strip back the "buildings’ modern influences... to reveal their hidden beauty and provide the canvas for the new design concept, which combines historical elements with contemporary style".

The first phase of the renovation project will have completed by February. The new look will extend to Pulitzer's Bar, a new restaurant called Jansz, meeting and event spaces and 80 rooms on the Keizersgracht canal side of the hotel.

The second phase will begin in February and is expected to complete in autumn 2016. This will include the second wing on the Prinssengracht canal side.

Once complete, the hotel will feature 225 rooms and suites and nine meeting and event spaces.

Earlier this year, Preferred Hotel Group was rebranded as Preferred Hotels & Resorts (see news, March 4).

Subscribers can read a review of the property from 2006, when it was known as Hotel Pulitzer, here.
