Marriott International has partnered with Chinese travel solutions provider Alitrip to help simplify the process for Chinese travellers to book hotel rooms online and on their mobile phones.
As part of the deal, the entire Marriott International portfolio will soon be made available on Alitrip.com, where it will operate through an online flagship store – a first for a global hotel chain.
Both Marriott International and Alitrip are also planning to explore the possibility of enhancing the user experience through the latter’s “Post Post Pay” service. The program allows qualified customers to reserve hotel rooms through Alitrip without paying a deposit and enjoy express check-out service, which will be a major convenience for consumers.
“This agreement illustrates Marriott International’s continued efforts toward the creation of a complete and effortless online- and mobile-powered travel experience for our guests,” said Craig Smith, president and managing director of Marriott International, Asia Pacific.
“We aim to be the favourite global brand for China’s hundreds of millions of internet users, who may be looking to travel both inside and outside of China.”
According to the China National Tourism Administration, the number of outbound Chinese travellers topped 100 million last year. This figure is expected to grow to 200 million by 2020.
