9 Nov 2015 by GrahamSmith

Virgin Atlantic will operate its final B747-400 aircraft out of London Heathrow on January 12/13.

The airline had previously planned to fly its last two B747 services from LHR to Miami and New York JFK on February 20/21, which was modified from an original end date of April 17/19 (see news, August 11).

Virgin will roster a mix of B787-9 and A330-300 aircraft on flights VS005/006 to Miami from January 12 and B787-9 and A340-600 jets to New York JFK from the following day, reports airlineroute.net.

The carrier will continue to operate the B747 out of London Gatwick.
