Etihad to deploy A380 to Mumbai

4 Nov 2015 by Clement Huang

Etihad Airways will deploy the A380 on its Abu Dhabi–Mumbai route from May 1, 2016, making India’s commercial capital Etihad’s fourth A380 destination, after Sydney, London and New York.

The A380 will operate one of Etihad’s three daily return flights and feature the 9W code of Jet Airways, Etihad’s strategic partner.

Service times will remain unchanged with flight EY204 departing Abu Dhabi at 1410 and arriving in Mumbai at 1920. The return flight on EY203 will then take off from Mumbai at 2135 and touch back down in Abu Dhabi at 2325.

Flight times back to Abu Dhabi allow for convenient connections to onward destinations such as Chicago, San Francisco, New York or Toronto in North America, as well as Bahrain, Doha or Jeddah in the Gulf region.

In particular, passengers connecting to New York will be able to enjoy the modern cabins of the A380 for the entire journey: “The A380 out of Mumbai will connect seamlessly at our Abu Dhabi hub to the A380 service to New York, offering our New York-bound guests the comfort, convenience and superior inflight service of A380 flights all the way,” said James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ president and chief executive.

The 496-seater superjumbo comes with a four-class configuration. Along with its single three-room suite The Residence by Etihad, the A380 also offer nine First Apartments, 70 Business Studios, and 415 Economy Smart Seats.

Melbourne is also due to receive the A380 from June 2016 (see here).
