Starwood Hotels and Resorts has announced a new St Regis in Shanghai.
The St Regis Shanghai Jingan will open in early 2017 on West Beijing Road close to the West Nanjing Road business area in Jingan.
Part of a new mixed-use development, the hotel will have approximately 480 rooms, including 41 suites and 47 apartments. All rooms will be on the 29th to 59th floors.
The hotel will also have several three-bedroom St. Regis apartments on the top floors of the building.
St Regis currently operates six properties and has an additional ten in the pipeline, including The St. Regis Macao, which is set to open this December.
The new hotel will have three restaurants and an alfresco bar, fitness room including a spa and indoor swimming pool as well as approximately 2,000 sqm of event space.
"This signing is testament to Starwood's vigorous strategic planning and our commitment to fulfil the demand for luxury accommodation in this dynamic city," said Nong Xia, Starwood's senior vice president of head of acquisitions and development in Greater China.
"When the St Regis Shanghai Jingan and W Shanghai - The Bund open in 2017, they'll join The Luxury Collection properties Twelve at Hengshan and The Hongta Hotel, making Shanghai home to three of Starwood's most prestigious brands."
S. Regis has 35 hotels and resorts currently and will have 50 by 2020.
