Austrian adds second Tehran service

20 Oct 2015 by GrahamSmith

Austrian Airlines will add a second service on to its Vienna-Tehran route next year.

The carrier currently operates an A319 six-times weekly — each day apart from Saturdays — between the two cities as OS871/872.

From March 11, it will add A320-operated flights OS873/874.

Outbound service OS873 will depart Vienna at 0945 and arrive in Tehran at 1635, and return leg OS874 will leave Tehran at 1725 and land in Vienna at 1930.

Andreas Otto, CCO of Austrian Airlines, said: "We are receiving clear signals of a revival in economic relations between Austria and Iran from the business community and political decision makers. Here we wanted to react quickly."

Austrian Airline restarted flights to Tehran in March last year, just over one year since it suspended services owing to economic sanctions and currency fluctuations (see news, January 2014).
