Iberia Plus introduces lifetime Infinita cards

6 Oct 2015 by GrahamSmith

Iberia is introducing new Infinita and Infinita Prime cards — valid for life — for its most loyal Iberia Plus members.

The Infinita card will be issued to members who joined Iberia Plus at least 20 years ago (Iberia Plus was founded in 1991) and who have been Platinum cardholders for over ten years.

It will also be awarded to those who earn 125,000 Elite points in a year and to members who "have flown with Iberia around 1,000 times".

Infinita card

The Infinita Prime card is for those who fly the most with Iberia group airlines and is issued once a member has earned 200,000 Elite points in a year. The Spanish airline said 105 of its more than six million members have been issued with this card.

Infinita cardholders will have access to an exclusive 24-hour call centre; 100 per cent bonus Avios; two upgrades per year in certain seating classes; an Iberia Gold card issued to the person they choose; a lifetime of Platinum privileges, including VIP lounges, fast-track boarding, free seat reservations and stand-by priority; lifetime Emerald status with Oneworld; and all Avios earned never expire.

Infinita Prime cardholders will have access to an exclusive 24-hour call centre; the right to check-in at business class counters at Madrid airport; VIP lounge privileges; fast-track boarding for up to four companions; four free upgrades per year; VIP parking in Madrid and Barcelona, limousine service "at several airports depending on fares"; a larger luggage allowance on all Oneworld flights; priority boarding; 100 per cent bonus Avios on all Iberia group flights and those of "several other" Oneworld airlines; two Iberia Plus Gold cards issued to people designated by the Infinita cardholder; exemption from all charges for changing flights or requesting refunds for tickets purchased directly from Iberia; invitations to exclusive events; lifetime Emerald status with Oneworld; and all Avios earned never expire.

Infinita cardholders can receive an Infinita Prime card when they earn 200,000 Elite points on Iberia flights as members of Iberia Plus.

Iberia Express launched a service to Manchester last month (see news, September 4) and is due to start flying to Birmingham next year (see news, September 18).
