Anantara launches guest smartphones in Bangkok

29 Sep 2015 by Tamsin Cocks

Luxury hospitality brand Anantara has become the first in Thailand to offer smartphones to its hotel guests.

The company has partnered with Handy, a smartphone rental company, to offer a complimentary smartphone service for all guestrooms of two of its Bangkok properties – the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel and Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort.

The “handy” smartphones provide guests with unlimited local and international calls to ten destinations including Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, China and the US, plus unlimited 3G data connectivity and wifi tethering capability.

The device also comes preinstalled with a number of popular apps such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as destination-specific features such as currency conversion, a comprehensive digital city guide and a taxi card that stores the hotel address and map location. Guests will also receive hotel news and be able to make spa or dinner reservations.

To ensure guests' privacy, the device will be reset on checkout, meaning the browsing history, personal data and additional apps downloaded are  removed.

Prior to its Thai debut, Handy has been rolled out at a number of hotels across Asia including Hotel Indigo in Hong Kong and the Ibis Singapore.
