Google Street View adds British Airways A318 tour

28 Sep 2015 by Mark Caswell
British Airways has partnered with Google to create what it says is “the first airport airside tour on Google Street View”. Users can take a virtual walk through BA’s all-business class A318 aircraft on the tarmac at London City airport, as well as take a 360-degree tour of the carrier’s departure lounge. BA Google Street View Landside operations at the airport have also been given the Street View treatment, allowing users to virually navigate around the terminal building, “explore and ‘visit’ check-in, duty-free and even check-out the best places to eat and catch up on last-minute work before their flight”. It took three days and thousands of digital photos to capture every passenger area of the airport, from check-in, to the cafes, restaurants and seating areas. BA Google Street View Commenting on the launch, Stephen Humphreys, British Airways’ head of global sales, said: “From the comfort of their own home, customers can now take their own private virtual tour of one of our specially configured Airbus A318s and peek inside British Airways’ private lounge, so they can see for themselves just how exclusive the Club World London City service is.” ba.com
