United Airlines has added a new seat on to its domestic first class cabin.
The seat debuted on an A319 and will gradually be retrofitted on to other A319s, A320s, B737s and B757s until the end of 2016.
Tom O'Toole, United's senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said: "We designed a custom seat that incorporates the features that today's passengers want and upgrades our cabins."
The new product features:
- All-leather seat covers in United's signature navy and champagne colours
- A patented-design tray table with tablet holder
- An articulating seat bottom for greater comfort when reclining and an adjustable headrest
- In-seat universal power outlets
- Additional in-seat storage, including two seatback pockets and side stowage for laptops and tablets
- Dedicated beverage holders
- Granite cocktail tables.
The new United First seat is 21.1 inches wide, making it more generous than the carrier's existing product, and will have numerous custom-design finishes, including the United-branded tag.
United will add a B787-9 on to its daily London Heathrow-Los Angeles service next year (see news, September 2).
