Japan Airlines (JAL) will introduce premium economy class to its Tokyo Haneda–Honolulu service starting next year.
According to airlineroute, the Oneworld member currently serves the route with a two-class B777-200ER but will swap this for a three-class model from January 7, 2016.
The move is significant as not only will premium economy be introduced but the number of business class seats will also double in size, suggesting healthy demand for premium seats on the route.
As opposed to the current layout, which features 28 seats in business and 284 in economy, the three-class B777-200ER will offer 56 seats in business, 40 in premium economy and only 149 in economy.
Flight times will remain the same, with JL080 departing Tokyo Haneda daily at 2340 and arriving in Honolulu at 1125. The return service on flight JL089 will then take off from Honolulu at 1735 and touch back down in Tokyo Haneda at 2200 the following day.
