Members of Intercontinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) new top-tier Spire Elite status received their membership cards earlier this month with an “extra benefit” that the hospitality company unknowingly included with it.
An embarrassing error by IHG saw the new Spire Elite membership cards printed with a sex chat phone number, instead of the group’s Customer Care number.
According to Loyalty Lobby, the phone number listed on the card was 1-800-774-7300. The correct number should have been 1-844-774-7300 instead.
IHG is aware of the issue, and has sent emails to affected Spire Elite cardholders, informing them of the error and instructing them to dispose of the card:
A replacement card, with the correct number, will be mailed to members at a later date.
