Five actors that have partnered with airlines

16 Sep 2015 by Clement Huang

NICOLE KIDMAN

AIRLINE Etihad Airways

WHEN March 2015

INFO Designed to reflect Etihad’s brand ethos of culture, luxury, style and innovation, the Gulf carrier has chosen to partner itself with a celebrity that exudes class and sophistication.

Academy Award-winning Aussie star Nicole Kidman is the perfect candidate, and the global “Flying Reimagined” campaign sees her onboard Etihad’s brand new A380 enjoying the many perks afforded by the airlines’ ultra-luxurious “The Residence” product. To say that we’re jealous is the understatement of the century!

HUGH JACKMAN

AIRLINE Qantas Airways

WHEN September 2015

INFO It’s fair to say that native Aussie Hugh Jackman boasts a global appeal, having starred in critically-acclaimed international flicks such as Australia (2008) and Les Miserables (2012). A stint as Wolverine in the X-men film series also made him the envy of every comic book fan.

It’s therefore no surprise that Qantas has partnered with Jackman, with the aim of promoting Australia on the global stage.

The actor will work with Qantas on community projects in Australia, with further details to be announced soon.

KEVIN COSTNER

AIRLINE Turkish Airlines

WHEN March 2013

INFO Dances with Wolves actor Kevin Costner first visited Turkey in 2007 for a concert, and must have fallen in love with the country. The notoriously private actor agreed to partner with Turkish Airlines to star in the "Feel like a star" commercial, which went on to be shown in 70 countries.

The 60-second campaign focuses on Turkish Airlines' international business class product, as well as the carrier's services that "make passengers feel like a star".

GWYNETH PALTROW

AIRLINE British Airways

WHEN October 2014

INFO The view from the top of the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore never fails to dazzle, but it was even more breathtaking last October when British Airways (BA) invited Gwyneth Paltrow to launch the airline’s new A380 service on the London–Singapore route.

BA certainly scored big by signing the globally famous personality. In addition to a star-studded acting career, Paltrow’s online lifestyle publication Goop has become a major source for people to learn about food, shopping, and travel - a profile that fits BA perfectly.

The award-winning actress, most known for her roles in Shakespeare in Love and the Iron Man film series, posed on a BA Club World seat, which was positioned in the middle of the MBS’ infinity pool. Combined with an amazing backdrop of the Singapore city skyline, Paltrow never looked more beautiful. Of course, the Safiyaa-designed dress and shoes by Jimmy Choo helped too!

JENIFFER ANISTON

AIRLINE Emirates

WHEN August 2015

INFO Emirates has remained very tight lipped about its partnership with Aniston, with Boutros Boutros, the airline’s divisional senior vice president for corporate communications, marketing and brand saying: “We can confirm that we are working with Ms Jennifer Aniston on a global digital and television campaign.”

Reports from other media outlets have suggested that the former Friends actress will pocket a cool Dh18.4 million (US$5 million) for the deal.

The partnership will see Aniston take part in an Emirates’ worldwide ad campaign, similar to Nicole Kidman’s role in Etihad’s “Flying Reimagined” campaign, but we hope Emirates’ will take advantage of Aniston’s comedic antics for a humourous campaign!
