The 147-room Rosewood Edinburgh will be the luxury brand’s fourth hotel in Europe and second in the UK.

Rosewood Edinburgh

Rosewood Edinburgh will be located in the city’s former Royal High School

It will join Rosewood London; Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Montalcino, Italy; and the forthcoming Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris, which is due to open next year (see news, December 2013).

Rosewood Edinburgh will be located in the city’s former Royal High School, which opened in 1829 and is now a listed building.

Facilites will include three restaurants and bars, event and meeting spaces featuring a 300 sqm ballroom, a spa, fitness centre and indoor swimming pool.

Radha Arora, president of Rosewood, said: “The former Royal High School is an Edinburgh landmark and we will be drawing on our experience with historic properties such as The Carlyle, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco and Hotel de Crillon to ensure the heritage and history of this building is preserved and celebrated.”

Rosewood has been appointed by Duddingston House Properties (DHP) and Urbanist Hotels to manage the property.
