Air China to fly between Beijing and Auckland

2 Sep 2015 by Clement Huang

Air China will launch a daily service between Beijing and Auckland with fellow Star Alliance member Air New Zealand codesharing on the service.

From December 10, Flight CA783 will be scheduled to depart Beijing at 0040 and arrive in Auckland at 1810. The return service sees flight CA784 take off from the North Island city at 2000 and touch back down in the Chinese capital at 0430 the following day.

Air New Zealand will place its “NZ” marketing code on both flights, with the Beijing–Auckland leg featuring NZ3888, and the Auckland–Beijing segment sporting the NZ3889 code.

Flights will be operated with the A330-200, which Air China has fitted with a two-class configuration that offers 30 flat-bed seats in business, and 207 standard economy seats in coach.

Business class

According to Auckland Airport, the new service is expected to be worth NZ$200 million in travel spending, with China being New Zealand’s second largest inbound visitor market.

Air New Zealand previously operated the Auckland–Beijing twice weekly, but was forced to cut it back in 2012 due to weak demand. The carrier then concentrated efforts on its Auckland–Shanghai route.

Fares for the new route are now available for purchase on the Air China official website.
