Qatar Airways to serve Nagpur

28 Aug 2015 by Clement Huang

Qatar Airways is looking to expand its presence in India with the launch of a non-stop, daily service to Nagpur, India from December 1.

Described as a flagship smart citiy by the Indian government, the second capital of the Maharashtra state is part of a five-year urban mission that will see an investment of one trillion rupees (US$15.1 billion) into 100 cities.

A new economic zone and airport is being planned for the city, and these developments are likely to increase the attractiveness of Nagpur as a travel market.

Qatar Airways will operate an A320 on the Doha–Nagpur route. The narrowbody aircraft will feature a two-class configuration with 12 seats in business and 132 seats in economy. It should also be noted that only a selected number of aircraft would feature seatback TV screens.

Flight QR588 departs Doha at 1955 and arrives in Nagpur at 0215 the following day. The return service on flight QR589 will then take off from Nagpur at 0345 and arrive back in Doha at 0555.

“Today, India has the largest number of destinations served by our carrier across any market and we will continue to look for more destinations and additional flights to expand our reach in the Indian subcontinent,” said Qatar Airways chief executive, Akbar Al Baker.
