Emirates will begin deploying a second A380 service to Frankfurt from January 2016, adding some 1,155 seats per week on the route.
"Our daily A380 service to Frankfurt proved to be extremely popular and we’re happy that demand has been so strong that we needed to increase capacity on the route,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president, commercial operations west.
The deployment of the superjumbo will result in an upgrade in capacity, with the A380 offering 14 suites in first, 76 seats in business, and 429 in economy. Compared to the B777-300ER, there will be six more suites in first, 34 more seats in business, and 125 more in economy.
The flat-bed business class product on the superjumbo will also be significantly better than the angle-flat seat offered on the B777-300ER. Meanwhile, passengers in first will gain access to the Shower Spa facilities, available only on the superjumbo.
Flight times for EK47/48, currently operated by a B777-300ER, will remain unchanged with EK47 departing Dubai International Airport at 1435 and arriving in Frankfurt at 1840. The return service on flight EK48 will then take off from Frankfurt at 2030, and touch back down Dubai at 0610 the following day.
