Airbnb signs up 1,000 firms to travel programme

24 Aug 2015 by GrahamSmith

Airbnb signed up more than 500 companies to its business travel programme within 24 hours of launching its new global travel management suite last month.

The accommodation website updated Airbnb For Business in late July with improvements that it claims make its services more convenient for corporate bookers (see news, July 28).

Now, more than 1,000 firms have formally made Airbnb part of their corporate travel programme. Among those signed up are Google, TBWA, Twilo and Soundcloud.

Companies can book accommodation for larger groups, longer stays, relocations and meeting spaces, compared to the short breaks in private properties that leisure travellers tend to use Airbnb for.

Marc McCabe, Airbnb's business travel lead, said: "The corporate community’s response to our business travel programme has been staggering and confirms our findings that business travellers increasingly want to redefine the business trip.

"The average business travel stay on Airbnb is 6.8 days, which shows how customers are looking for a mix of business and leisure, and often adding a weekend to explore a new destination."

Based in San Francisco, Airbnb was founded in August 2008 and is the world's leading community-driven hospitality company.
