10-across economy layout confirmed for QR B777-300s

20 Aug 2015 by Clement Huang
Following in the footsteps of its fellow Gulf carriers, Qatar Airways has confirmed that all subsequent deliveries of its B777-300 aircraft will feature a 10-across seating layout. The news follows our earlier report (see here) that the airline's newest B777-300ER, delivered earlier this month, surprised passengers with a 3-4-3 economy configuration - different to the 3-3-3 layout previously offered. In a statement to sister publication Business Traveller Middle-East, a Qatar Airways spokesperson said: "Due to ever-increasing passenger demand across a range of Qatar Airways routes, coupled with new developments in slim-line seating, Qatar Airways will feature 10 seats abreast in Economy on all its new B777-300ER aircraft." It has also been revealed that Qatar Airways' existing 28 B777-300ERs will be retrofitted with the denser configuration by the end of 2016. The implementation of a 10-across seating arrangement in economy will reduce the width of each seat from 18.2 inches to 17 inches. The seat pitch will, however, remain the same at 32 inches. Qatar Airways' nine B777-200s in the fleet will still offer the 3-3-3 layout. For more information, visit qatarairways.com Clement Huang
