14 Aug 2015 by GrahamSmith

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to open four new hotels in Dubai.

Three of the properties will fall under the group's Aloft brand, while the fourth will be an Element hotel. All four are scheduled to open in 2018.

Aloft Dubai Dubiotech will contain 227 guestrooms and will be located 20 kilometres from Dubai International airport and 40 kilometres from the new Dubai World Central International airport.

The 200-room Aloft Dubai Studio City will feature 120 sqm meeting space and will be located 15 minutes from Dubai International and the city centre.

Aloft Dubai IMPZ will contain 221 guestrooms and will be based in the city's International Media Production Zone.

Sister property Element IMPZ will feature 168 studio accommodatons and double rooms with facilities including swimming pools and fitness centres.

Each Aloft hotel will contain a bar, a 24-hour "grab and go" eatery, an all-day dining outlet, a fitness centre and an outdoor pool.

Michael Wale, Starwood president, Europe, Africa and Middle East, said: "As the fastest growing brand in the history of hospitality, Aloft meets Dubai's demand for mid-scale hotels in both urban and industrial areas that bring life, innovation and personality at a great value."

Simon Turner, president of Starwood Global Development, added: "We continue to experience increased worldwide demand for our mid-market brands given their global appeal for guests and strong performance.

"This is particularly true for Aloft where signings have more than doubled globally versus the same time last year including a surge of signings in the Middle East."

Starwood is opening the four hotels in conjunction with real estate developer Dubai Properties.

The group recently opened its first Four Points hotel in Istanbul (see news, August 3).
