Lufthansa to open five new lounges at Munich

5 Aug 2015 by BusinessTraveller

Lufthansa is to open five new lounges at Munich airport next year, located within the forthcoming Terminal 2 satellite building.

The new facilities will open in April 2016, and will double the number of Lufthansa lounges at the airport.

A 1,000 sqm first class lounge (also available to HON Circle members) will feature a bar and restaurant with a la carte and “premium buffet” options, bedrooms and work spaces, luxury bathrooms and a separate lounge for cigar smokers.

There will also be dedicated passport control desks within the lounge for premium passengers arriving and departing, as well as a limousine service for flights departing from or arriving at apron positions.

In addition there will be Senator and business class lounges in both the main and Non-Schengen areas, with features including showers, a bistro area, manned bar, and separate TV and work spaces.

Munich airport is Lufthansa’s second hub after Frankfurt, with the carrier occupying the existing Terminal 2 along with fellow Star Alliance members and partners.

The new satellite facility has been developed within Terminal 2’s former baggage sorting hall, and will add 52 gates and capacity for an additional 11 million passengers.
