The 242-room hotel is scheduled to open in Qingdao’s business district by 2020.
The hotel will span several floors of the city’s tallest building with unparalleled views of the Yellow Sea.
There will be over 18,000sq ft (approx. 1,670sqm) of meeting space, five star restaurants and bars, as well as a fitness centre, swimming pool, and luxury spa.
Centrally located, the Regis Qingdao will be close to popular attractions such as the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre, Wusi Square Coastal Plaza, as well as the picturesque coast.
Qingdao’s luxury landscape has grown rapidly in recent years, thanks to the influx of affluent Chinese travelers and the Qingdao Bureau of Commerce’s plans to transform Qingdao into a luxury shopping destination.
“The St Regis Qingdao will set a new standard in luxury hospitality in the Shandong province with personalised and refined services tailored to our Chinese and global guests”, said Xia Nong, head of acquisition & development at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Greater China.
As one of China’s most prominent and fast-growing coastal cities, Qingdao is a national tourism destination known for its rich cultural heritage, beautiful scenery and beaches, and high profile events like the Qingdao International Beer Festival. As a regional economic hub and port city, it also houses the headquarters of several well-known Chinese brands such as Haier.
St Regis Qingdao will be the luxury hotel brand’s seventh property in China.
