Intercontinental Hotels Group will open an Intercontinental hotel in Bordeaux later this year.
The 130-room Intercontinental Bordeaux - Le Grand will be located on the city's central Place de la Comédie in a property that dates back to 1776.
It will be converted from the current Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa and will be the group's sixth Intercontinental in France.
The property was previously the Regent Grand Hôtel Bordeaux from 2007 until 2012, when it became the Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux & Spa.
The Gordon Ramsay Group will oversee the hotel's food and drink including the fine-dining Le Pressoir D'Argent restaurant.
Facilities will include seven meeting rooms, an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and hammam.
Philippe Bijaoui, IHG's vice president of development, Europe, said: "This iconic brand is going from strength-to-strength in France and this new hotel will further enhance the momentum behind the brand’s growth in Europe."
The hotel will operate under a management agreement with Financière Immobilière Bordelaise.
IHG's other Intercontinental properties in France are Intercontinental Paris - Le Grand (see news, August 2014), Intercontinental Paris - Avenue Marceau, Intercontinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu, Intercontinental Carlton Cannes and Intercontinental Lyon - Hotel Dieu (see news, June 16).
