Vueling Airlines has started a service between Barcelona and Manchester.
The Spanish carrier, part of the IAG group, is operating an A320 with capacity for 180 passengers on the route.
The service operates four-times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Between August 4 and September 6 a fifth weekly frequency will be added on Thursdays.
Gabriel Schmilovich, senior manager at Vueling, said: "With up to five flights per week during summer, passengers from Manchester will not only be able to reach Barcelona but will also benefit from Vueling's connections to many destinations."
Last summer, fellow IAG airline British Airways added its flight code to a further nine Vueling services, taking the carriers' codeshare operation to more than 180 routes (see news, August 2014).
