Hilton Worldwide has signed a management contract that will see it open a Doubletree by Hilton property in Penang, Malaysia.
As one of the top three economic centres in Malaysia, Penang is the country’s manufacturing hub for major international electronics companies, and a popular tourist destination too.
The existing building is owned by Pinnacle Nexus, a member of Cornerstone Partners, and will soon undergo an extensive refurbishment before joining the Doubletree by Hilton’s portfolio.
Situated along Jalan Batu Ferringhi, the resort is located approximately 15km from George Town, well-known for its historical architectural and cultural townscape.
Doubletree by Hilton Penang is due to open in 2016, and will offer 318 guestrooms and suites, each with its own balcony and many with views of the sea. The resort will also be home to three restaurants and a bar, including an all-day dining outlet, lobby bar and café.
Meeting spaces will include a ballroom and four function spaces covering an area of more than 1,300sqm. Recreational facilities meanwhile will consist of a gym, an outdoor pool and children’s recreational area.
