Etihad Airways has launched a daily service to Edinburgh, the carrier’s first destination in Scotland, and its third in the UK, following flights to London and Manchester.
The new service is operated by the A330-200, which features a two-class configuration with 22 seats in business and 240 in economy.
Flight EY27 departs Abu Dhabi daily at 0220 and arrives in Edinburgh at 0720. The return flight sees flight EY28 take off again from Edinburgh at 0910 and touch back down in Abu Dhabi at 1940
Peter Baumgartner, chief commercial officer for Etihad Airways, said: “Scotland is the natural next step on our growth trajectory in the UK, with strong tourism and business traffic in both directions.”
There are currently no direct flights connecting Asia to Edinburgh, which means passengers have to connect either via Doha (Qatar Airways) or through European destinations such as London (British Airways), Frankfurt (Lufthansa) or Paris (Air France). This route will provide Asian passengers with an alternative entry point into the Scottish capital.
