Alila joins Commune Hotels & Resorts

8 Jun 2015 by Clement Huang

San Francisco-based Commune Hotels & Resorts has extended its presence to Asia with the addition of Alila Hotels and Resorts to its portfolio.

The group now offers four boutique hotel brands, with the Singapore-based Alila joining Joie de Vivre Hotels, Thompson Hotels and tommie.

Commune equity shareholder Geolo Capital first secured a majority interest in Alila back in 2014, when the two hotel companies established a partnership to cross-promote each other’s brands.

“Through our partnership this past year, we quickly discovered that our company cultures and values are very well-aligned,” said Niki Leondakis, chief executive of Commune who also spoke about the Asian hospitality market.

“Asia is an incredibly influential and promising travel market with tremendous growth potential for Commune; Alila has a strong foothold in the region with world-class hotels and a commitment to guest service that’s nothing short of exceptional, all of which creates significant opportunity for Commune's existing hotels and future development internationally.”

Alila’s corporate office in Singapore will become the regional office of Commune, said the San Francisco-based hotel group. However, each individual Alila property will remain unchanged and will retain its name.

The Commune Hotels & Resorts website has been updated to encompass the nine hotels and one cruise offered by Alila. Customers can easily navigate through the online portal and get directed into each property’s online website and book stays accordingly.

The group is expected to announce new initiatives at a later date.
