Eurostar suspended after person killed by train

1 Jun 2015 by GrahamSmith

All Eurostar services have been suspended after a person was hit and killed by a train this morning.

The victim, who has not been identified, was struck on the line between Ashford and Ebbsfleet at 0930. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "We were called to the line near Boxley tunnel in Maidstone to a report of a person hit by a train."

As a result of the incident, the high-speed train line that runs between Ashford and London St Pancras is not in use.

Delays are expected to last until at least 1400.

In November, the cross-Channel operator ordered a further seven new e320 trains and unveiled the new rolling stock at St Pancras (see news, November 13).
