Mandarin Oriental New York unveils refreshed suites

11 May 2015 by Clement Huang

Highlights for guests staying at the Mandarin Oriental New York’s one- and two-bedroom suites this summer will include living space that blends textual elements with the work of local artists.

Each of the 42 renovated suites was designed to take advantage of the property's prime location at Manhattan's Columbus Circle, with its outlook on Central Park and the Hudson River, the luxury hotel said on announcing the upgrade.

New designs contain elements of the brand's Asian heritage which combine with the colours of New York's skyline throughout the day and create a distinct blend of the new and the old.

On display in each suite are the works of emerging local artists that the hotel said helps "evoke the feeling of a gallery space".

Featuring custom-made furnishings such as a "teardrop-shaped table, curved sofas and soft Asian-inspired graphic designs", the hotel said its suites have a residential feel, with bathrooms offering rainforest showers as well as separate tubs.

Connectivity includes Samsung 55-inch Smart LED televisions in living rooms and bedrooms, Harman Kardon Bluetooth-enabled sound systems, and built-in connectivity panels in the working desks.

“We welcome each of our guests with spectacular views of New York City that are complemented by the personalised service for which [our brand] is renowned,” said Susanne Hatje, general manager of the hotel.

Stays at the new suites start at US$1,795 per night, subject to availability.
