Lufthansa to launch A350s from Munich in 2016

8 May 2015 by GrahamSmith

Lufthansa is planning to introduce its first Airbus A350 in Munich at the end of next year.

The airline has ordered 25 Airbus A350-900s which will operate from its main hubs of Frankfurt and Munich from late 2016.

Lufthansa board member Thomas Klühr said: “The A350 is an important step towards active noise protection. The aircraft generates a 30 percent smaller noise footprint.”

The airline will operate 26 long-haul aircraft from Munich for summer 2015 including 17 A340-600s and nine A330-300s.

Lufthansa ordered the 25 A350-900s two years ago as part of plans to replace its ageing long-haul fleet (see news, September 2013).
