Starwood Hotels and Resorts has opened its first St Regis property in Russia.
St Regis Moscow Nikolskaya is housed within a building dating back to the 1870s, which was originally built for the wealthy Count Orlov-Davydov, and now offers 210 rooms with “belle époque interiors”.
The hotel is located on Nikolskaya Street, which links the city’s Lubyanka Square and Red Square, and is within walking distance of the Kremlin and the Bolshoi Theatre.
The property has a total of five restaurants and bars, including Italian eatery Osteria A Tavola, speciality burger restaurant The Farsh, and a forthcoming signature restaurant headed up by Michelin starred chef Kamel Benamar (formerly head chef of The Bolshoi).
Alexandria Beauty Lounge and Spa offers nine treatment rooms, with an indoor pool, sauna, hammam and fitness centre, and there is also a private rooftop bar for functions, as well a ballroom and four meeting rooms.
The St Regis Moscow Nikolskaya joins three other Starwood properties in the Russian capital - Sheraton Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport Hotel, Sheraton Palace Hotel, and Hotel National, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Moscow.
Starwood recently opened its first St Regis property in Istanbul (see news April 15), and will add hotels in Mumbai and Dubai before the end of the year.
