Emirates is set to follow in Etihad Airways’ footsteps by introducing a premium first class product.
Gulf News reports that Emirates’ “luxury bedroom product”, which will rival Etihad’s The Residence suite, is set to be rolled out onto the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777s.

Emirates has been strongly hinting over the past year that it would be unveiling such a product in the future. In particular, speaking to the Wall Street Journal last year, chief executive Tim Clark confirmed that his airline was in the advance stages of designing one.
There has been no news yet on whether the new luxury product will operate alongside the carriers’ existing first class suites or replace the current product entirely.

Speaking at the Arabian Travel Market, Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, divisional senior vice president of commercial operations centre at Emirates, stated that the new bedroom-style suites will first be rolled out onto routes where the airline enjoys high load factors on first class. While Al Mualla declined to specify the routes, he did confirm that the Dubai–London services were some of the most popular for first class travel.
