Iberia and TAM Airlines have extended their codeshare agreement to include several more transatlantic routes.
The Oneworld members now place their respective flight codes on each other's services between Madrid and Sao Paulo; Madrid and Rio de Janeiro; and, from later this year, Barcelona and Sao Paulo.
The latter Sao Paulo-Barcelona route will be flown by TAM Airlines and is scheduled to start on October 1.
The agreement means Iberia and TAM passengers will have more flight and connection options and can book flights on both carriers on a single ticket.
A statement said: "Iberia customers arriving in Brazil can continue their journeys on TAM flights from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo to the Brazilian cities of Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Natal, Salvador, Florianopolis, Curitiba, Manaus, Porto Alegre, and Recife.
"TAM passengers arriving in Madrid can fly with Iberia to Barcelona, Rome, Zurich, Dusseldorf, Geneva, Venice, Tenerife, Bilbao, and Asturias."
Next month, TAM is moving its London Heathrow base from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 (see news, April 7).
