Air Berlin is offering to match its Topbonus members' loyalty status to what they hold with other frequent flyer programmes (excluding those offered by Oneworld member airlines).
For example, a Silver member of Singapore Airline's Krisflyer programme, can apply to automatically become a Silver member of Topbonus.
As Air Berlin is a member of Oneworld, an additional benefit of this offer is that Topbonus Silver and Gold members will also be entitled to Oneworld Ruby and Sapphire status respectively. This opens up the possibility for Star Alliance Silver and Gold members, along with Skyteam Elite and Elite Plus cardholders, to achieve Oneworld status.
The status matching scheme may only be applied for once and is only available for the Topbonus Silver or Gold status – not for the programme’s Platinum tier.
Successful applicants will receive either Topbonus Silver or Gold status for a probationary period of 12 months. Within that time, members that achieve the required number of status miles or flights pro rata will be awarded the status for a further year.
- Collect 25,000 status miles or 24 flights within 12 months and you will be awarded a Silver card
- Collect 50,000 status miles or 24 flights within 12 months and you will be awarded a Gold card
Interested individuals should email Air Berlin at [email protected] and provide their account number, as well as a legible scan/photo/copy of their other valid frequent flyer card.

Within a few hours, Air Berlin replied with news that it had approved our application, and that we would receive a Topbonus Silver card within 14 days. Our new Topbonus account has also reflected the new status.
