30 Mar 2015 by Clement Huang

Qatar Airways is expanding its operations to India by increasing capacity for its flights between Doha and Bengaluru.

The Gulf carrier currently operates a 254-seater B787 on the route. With effect from August 1, the Dreamliner will be replaced by the B777 that offers a superior capacity of 335 seats.

This will represent an increase of 20 seats in business class (42 compared to 22), and 61 in economy (293 as opposed to 232).

Qatar Airways’ group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker said: “The strengthening of the Doha–Bengaluru route reflects increased passenger demand and reaffirms our continuous expansion strategy for the Indian market.

“India is growing as an economic hub and shows enormous potential, and our growth strategy has always stressed the significance of the Indian market where we plan to seek even more capacity and increase frequency on existing routes”.

The Doha – Bengaluru daily flight schedules from 1 August are:

Depart Doha QR572 at 2000, arrive Bengaluru at 0245 (next day)

Depart Bengaluru QR573 at 0415, arrive Doha at 0540

Qatar Airways is expected to launch five new destinations later this year. Amsterdam, Durban, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Multan will increase the carrier’s global portfolio to 151 destinations.
