Finnair to install wifi across its fleet

26 Mar 2015 by GrahamSmith

Finnair will add on-board wifi to the majority of its aircraft in the next three years.

The national carrier announced it plans to invest €30 million in equipping both its wide-body and narrow-body fleet with the technology.

It will first introduce wifi service this autumn with the arrival of its first A350 XWB aircraft.

Next year, the airline will begin installing wifi on its long-haul A330s and its Airbus short-haul fleet. This work is scheduled to complete by 2018.

Finnair CEO Pekka Vauramo said: "This investment will enable us to offer a wide array of new services to our customers, ranging from inflight entertainment to inflight sales and ancillaries."

Last year, Finnair unveiled details and images of its new A350 XWB seating (see news, August 2014).
