Turkish Airlines will launch a five-times weekly service between Istanbul and San Francisco next month.
The national carrier will roster a B777-300ER on the route, which begins on April 13 and will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Outbound service TK79 will depart Istanbul Ataturk at 1305 and arrive in San Francisco at 1625, with return service TK80 leaving San Francisco at 1810 and landing in Istanbul at 1705 the next day.
The airline's Miles & Smiles loyalty members will receive a 25 per cent reduction in the miles needed to redeem either award tickets or upgrades on the route until September 30.
San Francisco will be Turkish Airlines' sixth US route, after Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC and Boston, and its 11th to the Americas.
Later this month, the carrier will add two extra weekly services onto its Istanbul to Birmingham route (see news, December 23).
