BA extends London City luggage concierge service

11 Mar 2015 by GrahamSmith

British Airways has expanded its premium luggage concierge service at London City airport to all passengers on all of its 124 weekly domestic flights.

The airline has teamed up with AirPortr to offer the "Carousel Collection" facility, which it has been trialling among Executive Club members on flights into LCY from Edinburgh and Glasgow (see news, October 6).

The service, which allows passengers arriving at the airport to have AirPortr collect their luggage from baggage reclaim and deliver it within the M25, has now been extended to all of BA's domestic LCY flights and to all passengers.

AirPortr's £10 Carousel Collection fee is waived for BAEC members, but has to be paid by non-members. The cost of baggage delivery then starts at (an additional) £15.

BA said it plans to extend the service to international destinations within Europe.

Chris Nash, BA's customer experience manager for LCY, said: "Having successfully trialled Carousel Collection, it's a natural step for us to roll-out the service from all our UK destinations to London City and extend it to all British Airways customers, not just Executive Club members.

"As part of our continuing service to our Executive Club members we will still be offering the service free of charge to them.

"Also, we are working with AirPortr to ensure that British Airways will be the first airline to offer an International Carousel Collection service when it launches on flights from Europe, hopefully later this year."
