Virgin postpones B787-9 service to LAX

9 Mar 2015 by GrahamSmith

Virgin Atlantic has postponed introducing a daily B787-9 service to Los Angeles by a week.

The British airline had been scheduled to add the Dreamliner onto its London Heathrow to LAX route on April 30. This will now happen on May 5, reports airlineroute.net.

Virgin currently operates two daily services to Los Angeles - VS007/008 and VS023/024. The B787-9 will be added to VS007/008.

Outbound service VS007 departs LHR at 1115 and and arrives at LAX at 1430, while return service VS008 leaves LAX at 1755 and lands at LHR at 1220 the next day.

Last week, Virgin announced it will add a second daily B787-9 service onto its London Heathrow to San Francisco route on October 24 (see news, March 3).

The carrier's B787-9 Dreamliner is configured in three classes with 198 seats in economy, 35 in premium economy, and 31 in Upper Class.

The airline said it plans to roll-out the aircraft on several more routes this year, including London Heathrow to Hong Kong, Delhi, Shanghai and Johannesburg.
