United Club experience to be upgraded

7 Mar 2015 by Clement Huang

United Airlines is improving the customer experience in its United Clubs by announcing upgrades to the menu, as well as the renovation of the lounges.

"Our new fresh, tasty and healthy food offerings, overhauled service approach, and systematic investment in renovating the rest of our 49 clubs worldwide will give our customers an airport getaway for relaxing or being productive during the hustle and bustle of their travel day," said Jimmy Samartzis, vice president of customer service.

First on the list is a new complimentary food menu that will become standard across all United Clubs. This will be welcoming news to many as most lounges in North America have the reputation of offering inferior F&B options, in comparison to those located here in Asia-Pacific.

New Morning Food Selections

  • Hot Old-Fashioned Oatmeal - assorted toppings - mixed fruit, granola, cinnamon, raisins, honey, brown sugar
  • Fresh Bagel Sticks - plain and everything bagel sticks with cream cheese, assorted jams
  • Greek Vanilla Yogurt - assorted toppings - mixed fruit, granola, cinnamon, raisins, honey, brown sugar
  • Hard-Boiled Eggs served with fresh chives and paprika
  • Scones flavours rotate between cinnamon vanilla, blueberry, cranberry orange
  • Spicy Bloody Mary Trail Mix with pretzel sticks and assorted nuts (peanut-free)
  • Assorted Cereals
  • Fresh Fruit

New Afternoon Food Selections

  • Fresh Hummus - assorted toppings- pita thins or pretzel crisps, Greek olives, freshly sliced red bell peppers
  • Mediterranean Salad - wheat berries, peppers, tomatoes, black olives
  • Soup du Jour - hearty garden vegetable soup
  • Cured Salami and Cheddar Cheese served with hearty wheat crackers
  • Healthy Fitness Trail Mix with assorted dried fruit and seeds (peanut-free)
  • Salty Ranchero Trail Mix with sesame sticks (peanut-free)
  • Sheila G's Brownie Brittle
  • Artisan Breads

The new menu will be available at United Clubs in Houston, Denver, Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington Dulles by the end of the summer, while all other lounges worldwide will follow by year’s end.

In addition, United will be renovating its lounges in Chicago O’Hare, Washington Reagan, Hong Kong and Tokyo Narita. The airline will also be adding new facilities in Atlanta and San Francisco, while making major changes to its lounges in Los Angeles.

The renovated style will be similar to those seen in the airline’s Boston, London Heathrow, San Diego and Seattle United Club renovations. The new design will also offer more diverse seating arrangements.
