Hilton Worldwide is bringing its new Curio brand to Europe.

The hotel group has announced it will add Reichshof Hamburg and Rumeli Han Istanbul to its Curio portfolio in 2015 and 2017 respectively.

The four and five-star brand, “ranging from boutique urban hotels to large beachfront resorts”, was launched in the US last summer (see news, June 2014).

Reichshof Hamburg, which was built in 1910 and is owned and operated by RH Operations, is located opposite Hamburg Central station.

It is currently undergoing a €30 million refurbishment programme that is expected to complete in the second quarter of this year. Once finished, the hotel will have 280 guest rooms and suites, 11 meeting rooms and a 177 sqm ballroom.

Rumeli Han Istanbul (pictured right), which is owned and managed by Tarihi Rumeli Han Turizm Ve Insaat San.Tic. A.S., is located on Istiklal Avenue in a 19th century building.

When it opens following renovation in 2017, the seven-storey property will have 173 guest rooms, and a number of restaurants and bars, including a rooftop bar.

Dianna Vaughan, Curio’s global head, said: “Curio was created in response to demand from owners of hotels which have their own distinct identity, but who want to benefit from Hilton’s distribution advantages and international customer base, including more than 44 million Hilton HHonors members worldwide.

“Since launching Curio less than a year ago, the reception from owners and guests has been incredible, and our maiden hotels in Europe join five hotels currently trading and more than 20 in the pipeline or with signed letters of intent across the world.”

Curio has signed letters of intent for the SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino; the Sam Houston Hotel in Houston, Texas; Hotel Alex Johnson in Rapid City, South Dakota; the Franklin Hotel in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and a development in Portland, Oregon.
