Eurostar suspended after man killed by train

2 Mar 2015 by GrahamSmith

Eurostar services to/from St Pancras International have been suspended after a man was hit by a train on a high-speed line in Kent.

The incident took place at 1140 near Crismill Lane in Bearsted. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Passengers have been warned to expect delays and cancellations.

Eurostar has advised anyone travelling on its services today to postpone their journey, if possible.

A statement said: "Due to a person hit by a train between Ashford International and Ebbsfleet International, the high-speed line is currently closed.

"As a result, Eurostar trains are subject to delay and cancellation this afternoon... customers due to travel today are advised to exchange to travel another day or refund their ticket."

In November, the cross-Channel operator ordered a further seven new e320 trains as it unveiled the new rolling stock at St Pancras (see news, November 13).
