Lufthansa will start flying a B747-8 featuring its new premium economy class between Frankfurt and New York Newark from today.
The German carrier had planned to roster the aircraft onto the daily route from March 29.
The B747-8 replaces the B747-400 that has previously operated the route, reports airlineroute.net.
Outbound flight LH402 departs Frankfurt at 1330 and arrives in Newark at 1610, with return flight LH403 leaving Newark at 1810 and landing in Frankfurt at 0745 the next day.
Between March 28 and April 8, the B747-8 will not operate the route, and will instead fly between Frankfurt and Houston.
In addition to the new seat, Lufthansa premium economy passengers also have double the economy baggage allowance (see news, November 14).
For a fee of 25 euros (US$31), they can also gain access to the Lufthansa business lounges prior to boarding.
Premium economy perks such as welcome drinks and amenity kits, each including a water bottle and power socket, are also available, while meals are served on china tableware.
