Easyjet Plus passengers can take a second bag into the cabin from next month.

The move will allow members of the budget carrier’s loyalty programme, or those who have bought a Flexifare ticket or have upfront or extra legroom seats, to take on board a handbag or laptop-sized second piece of luggage.

This can be stored under the seat in front, although those in the front row or in over-wing seats will need to use the overhead locker.

All Easyjet passengers can still take on board a cabin bag of up to 56cm x 45cm x 25cm in size and with no weight limit.

Peter Duffy, Easyjet’s commercial director, said: “We already have a generous cabin bag policy with no charge or weight limit, but some of our customers have been telling us they would like the option of an extra, smaller, under seat bag such as a handbag or laptop case.

“From March 19, we are introducing this for Easyjet Plus customers.”

Easyjet Plus was launched in 2008 and was designed for frequent travellers looking to benefit from priority check-in and boarding facilities.

The Easyjet Plus card gives passengers the same benefits enjoyed by Speedy Boarding Plus customers on all flights taken, for an annual fee of £149.

Earlier this month, Easyjet unveiled its new aircraft livery (see news, February 3).
