Alitalia is also looking to boost connectivity between Europe and Asia by resuming direct flights between Rome and Beijing at the end of the year.
According to the airline, the decision was based on the growing travel needs between Italy and China. In particular, trade between the two countries totalled around 33 billion euros in 2013.
Alitalia will also be flying between Milan and Shanghai from May 1 until the end of October.
