Korean Air introduces new Prestige Suite seat

4 Feb 2015 by Clement Huang

Korean Air has introduced a new “Prestige Suite” cabin seat, which it will debut on one of its A330-300 currently serving flights to Guangzhou, Singapore and Hanoi.

The Prestige Suite will also be included on new aircraft the carrier has on order. These include six A330-300s, 12 B777-300ERs, ten B747-8s and ten B787-9s.

The new product has been designed to optimise space and comfort, without compromising on privacy, the airline said.

The armrest is able to slide out of sight when the seat is reclined into its full-flat mode. This allows the seat to have an expanded width of 22.5 inches (full flat mode), as opposed to the previous 21 inches (seat mode). Overall, the pitch between seats has also been increased to 87 inches – up from the 75 inches offered by the previous configuration.

Privacy panels are installed between seats, with those in aisle seats being able to rise higher for increased privacy. In addition, each seat comes with an ottoman, where passengers can rest their feet. The feature is notable as it is usually considered a first class feature.

Though the business class configuration on the A330 is a 2-2-2 layout, Korean Air has installed its Prestige Suites in a way that allows even passengers sitting next to the window to gain access to the aisle without the need of climbing over their neighbour.

Finally, the 17-inch inflight entertainment monitors have also been upgraded, and are now equipped with touch screens that boast excellent resolution. A handset is also offered, and this comes with a touchpad that can be used to scroll through the entertainment menu.
