ANA to introduce premium economy to Asia

4 Feb 2015 by Clement Huang

All Nippon Airways (ANA) will introduce its premium economy offering on flights to Singapore, Bangkok and Jakarta starting next month.

The Japanese carrier attributes the decision to the need to cater for the high volume of business travellers flying to these destinations, as well as the growing demand from its international customers that are connecting to the wider Southeast Asian and North American ANA network.

For those that are unfamiliar with ANA’s premium economy seat, it comes with a 19.3-inch seat width, and a 38-inch pitch. Standard seat amenities include leg rest and foot rests, along with universal power port, LCD monitor and personal light.

In addition, passengers travelling on premium economy can also enjoy an enhanced dining experience with a selection of wine typically available only in business class, noodles, dessert, and the usual inflight menu in economy.

Along with the introduction of premium economy on flights to the three Asian destinations, ANA will also enhance its business class dining offering on those routes. The carrier will deliver a wider range of high-quality inflight cuisine, including the specially created menu from “The Connoisseurs”, served individually, course-by-course.

The Connoisseurs concept is a small number of menus that ANA has developed in collaboration with some of the industry’s top hotels. For instance, the menu on flights departing Singapore and Bangkok will feature the works from Regent Singapore, and Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel.

In short, ANA will provide a business class offering for the regional flights that is consistent with its long-haul services to Europe and North America. The changes are scheduled to begin in March too.

At the same time, the Japanese airline will also offer its first class travel class on the Narita–Singapore route, thereby giving passengers the opportunity to enjoy flights in the greatest comfort, privacy and luxury available.
