Tune Hotels will open its fifth London property on February 2.
The 130-room Tune Hotel Canary Wharf is located 100 metres from West India Quay, next to Cannon Workshops on Hertsmere Road.
It will be the budget brand’s seventh UK property, with more to follow, including its sixth London hotel in Shoreditch scheduled to open in 2016.
Tune Hotels plans to open 25 new properties in the UK by 2020. It opened a hotel in Newcastle in October (see news, September 28).
Mark Lankester, CEO of Tune Hotels Group, said: “London is where we started in the United Kingdom and remains the heart of our expansion into the regions of the UK.
“There is no foreseeable saturation point for Tune Hotels in London as the capital offers so many locations where our value for money concept would be welcomed by domestic and international travellers alike, especially by those who are familiar with the concept from staying at our hotels in other countries.
“For this reason, London will continue to form a crucial part of our overall UK plans for growth.”
Tune Hotels opened its first hotel in Kuala Lumpur in 2007 and currently has 44 properties in operation – 13 in Malaysia, nine in Indonesia, eight in the Philippines, seven in the UK, four in Thailand, and one in India, Japan and Australia.
In line with the group’s no frills concept, guests benefit from a “good quality” bed and shower, with optional facilities including towels and toiletries, hairdryer, in-room safe and TV and wifi access all available at a charge.
