JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts will open its first Italian hotel in Venice later this year, which will also be the brand's first resort in Europe.
The 266-room JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa is slated to open in March 2015, and will be situated on the elegant Isola delle Rose (Rose Island).
The hotel has been refurbished by Matteo Thun & Partners to create a design that combines the old with the new. Bedrooms and suites, some with private pools, have been decorated with locally-sourced bricks, glass and tiles to reflect the indigenous style and talent of the region.
"The opening of our first property in Italy marks a time of great growth and development for the JW Marriott brand. The new JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa exemplifies the elegance and service that our guests have come to expect, incorporating modern design elements with authentic Venetian offerings to create a truly genuine experience in a culturally rich market,” said Mitzi Gaskins, vice president of global brand manager for JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts.
When opened, the resort will be home to a 1,750 sqm spa – the largest of its kind in Venice. Operated by GOCO Hospitality, the facility will offer a range of classic treatments and spa rituals. It also has an indoor and outdoor aqua-tonic pool, a health club, eight treatment rooms, a hammam and luxury spa suite.
Other facilities include a kid’s club, dedicated family pool, water sports such as canoeing and sailing, and a rooftop pool offering excellent views of the lagoon towards the famous St. Mark’s Square – reachable by boat within 15 minutes. There are also 14 meeting rooms that can accommodate a maximum of 380 guests.
Opening rates for JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa start at €395 (US$465) including breakfast.
